Miguel Fuentes seeks to understand the behavior of Complex Systems
from a conceptual and fundamental point of view, focusing on anomalies
that are often essential ingredients for the appearance of new
emergent features.
He works in interdisciplinary research, from mathematical physics,
focusing on statistical mechanics, nonlinear dynamics, and the use of
information theory and complexity measures. This research allows
characterizing and understanding complex behaviors in related systems
of highly interdisciplinary interest, from physical models to social
systems, information propagation, ecology, public policy, etc.
Another important aspect of his research is the epistemological study
of complex systems. This study focuses on analyzing the evolution of
scientific theories and the dynamics of innovations.
Miguel Fuentes has a Ph.D. in Physics from Instituto Balseiro,
Argentina, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Universidad Nacional de La
Plata, Argentina.
He has worked and studied at places like the Université Pierre et
Marie Curie, the Institut Non-Linéaire de Nice, the Center for
Nonlinear Studies at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the Santa Fe
Institute.
